Get to Know Abhi

What do you enjoy most about tutoring?

I enjoy the challenge and excitement of working with people from different backgrounds and diverse skill sets. I enjoy the collaborative process of earning the student's respect and seeing them progress towards the goals they want to achieve.

Talk about a specific time when you helped a student overcome a challenge.

I once worked with a student who really disliked school and learning. I initially built up just general rapport; I made it a goal to come off as a sympathetic friend rather than an authority figure, and I coaxed him into being more calm and to reframe seeing education in a more positive light; not something to rebel against, but actually an opportunity to learn some cool new things.

What is your tutoring style? How do you engage with your students?

I am very personable and easy going. I work well with people from all sorts of different backgrounds and skill sets (hence my career in pre-sales consulting). I am good at reading the room and identifying what makes people tick, so I try to establish myself as a helpful resource for the student and set common goals we can achieve together.

Talk about your favorite teacher. What made him or her so special?

History has always been my favorite subject (unfortunately not a ton of career opportunities in that field), and my APUSH teacher was someone who always taught about events thru multiple angles
