Get to Know Aaron

What do you enjoy most about tutoring?

I’m a results-based teacher, so I love hearing from a student that they’ve succeeded after our sessions.

Talk about a specific time when you helped a student overcome a challenge.

I had a student who, while very bright, struggled somewhat in the reading section of the ACT despite having plenty of time left on their practice tests. I worked with them to slow down and develop a strategy that would make sure they wouldn’t rush through the section, leading to much higher overall scores

What is your tutoring style? How do you engage with your students?

When tackling a new subject with a student, I like to go over 2-3 example problems so that the student gets a good sense of how to do them, and then I ask them to work through a more challenging problem on their own, providing guiding suggestions if they are needed. I always make sure to keep my tutoring sessions more light-hearted, as I firmly believe that learning doesn’t need to be so serious all the time!

Talk about your favorite teacher. What made him or her so special?

It's tough to pick a single favorite teacher, but my semiconductor physics teacher in college always provided really amazing and intuitive examples that made an otherwise difficult subject much easier.
